Roski Portfolio Expo

Overview

I collaborated with a team of fellow design students to design the graphics for our portfolio show at the end of the semester. This event is an incredible opportunity for students to connect with other designers and meet potential employers, so we decided to turn it into a full campaign—enhancing the experience beyond what had been done before. At the core of the show were ID cards. Unlike typical portfolio shows that rely on typography for intrigue, we focused on "people before pieces," using IDs as a way to highlight the personalities and diverse disciplines of each student.

The IDs provided a cohesive yet individualized presentation of student work, making them a perfect tool for both promotion and connection. We also planned a social media takeover of the design school’s main Instagram page, shifting the focus to student work. To bring agencies into the experience, we created personalized invitation packages—each including a custom ID card and handwritten note—ensuring a memorable, tailored introduction to the show.

Conclusion

While we were pretty much tasked to simply create promotional flyers for the show, we saw it as our responsibility to give Roski students the best possible chance to succeed in the industry. A professional, well-developed, and deeply personal campaign was essential to making meaningful connections—with the agencies and designers who matter most.
